Our beloved president, His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma commissioned 10MW Thermal Power Plant at the Kingtom Power Station on the 30th March 2010. It is barely 5 months after commissioning the 50 MW Bumbuna Hydroelectric Power Plant that the president and his government has added another 10MW power plant to provide adequate supply of electricity to Freetown.

It marks the completion of the Phase II of the Urgent Improvement of Electric Power Supply System in Freetown Project.  The project contractors are ITOCHU Corporation and Dai Nippon Construction Consortium of Japan. The project was funded by the Japanese Government.
