
PROF. OGUNLADE R. DAVIDSON
MINISTER OF ENERGY AND POWER
Ogunlade R. Davidson is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and is currently the Dean of Post-Graduate
Studies at University of Sierra Leone. Previously, he was Director of Research at the University, Head of Department of Mechanical and Maintenance Engineering, and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. He is also the Chairman of the Board of the Sierra Leone Environmental Protection Agency (SLEPA).
Internationally, he is the Vice-Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and Co-Chair of Steering Committee of the Global Network on Energy for Sustainable Development (GNESD). Between 2000 and 2003 he was Professor and Director of the Energy and Development Research Centre (EDRC) of University of Cape Town, South Africa. Before then, he was a Senior Fulbright Scholar at University of California, Berkeley and a MacArthur Scholar at Princeton University and Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory in USA. He has worked as visiting Professor at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, ENDA-TM in Senegal, and National Technical University of Denmark.
He has published extensively in African Energy Systems and Policies, Power sector reform, Renewable Energy policy, Mitigation of Climate Change and on National Climate Change strategy. He has worked as a Consultant for UNESCO, UNIDO, ILO, UNECA, UNDP, UNEP, GEF, UNFCCC, NEPAD, ADB, and the World Bank. Professionally, he is a Registered Chartered Engineer of United Kingdom and Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences and of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers. He is also a Chartered Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
